Encourage

Elect

We seek to ensure that the officials we aid in getting elected represent our values and hold them accountable.

We do this by:

  • Carefully using our platform to promote candidates we believe represent the interests that matter most to Young Democrats.

  • Assisting candidates in their campaigns by helping to shape messaging that speaks to Young Democrats.

  • Providing financial or tactical support on high-stake campaigns.

We seek to encourage participation in politics at every level to ensure that future generations have a voice.

We do this by:

  • Helping Dutchess County residents register, or pre-register, to vote.

  • Supporting and encouraging Young Democrats to run for office.

  • Inspiring Young Democrats to take action by getting out and advocating for their candidates.

Educate

We seek to provide education on the political process and the importance of activism in local, regional, and national politics.

We do this by:

  • Providing accessible educational opportunities to Dutchess County residents.

  • Using our voice and platform to share information on what’s happening in local politics that may affect the lives of Dutchess County residents.

  • Serving as a focus group of passionate Young Democrats to help shape the future of Dutchess County politics.

Daniel Hyatt

President, Dutchess Young Dems

Daniel Hyatt is a communications and tech professional based in Poughkeepsie, where he lives with his dog, Bradley. A Buffalo, NY native, Daniel grew up in a large family, instilling in him a sense of responsibility towards community and family values. He studied Political Science and Philosophy at Buffalo State University and New York University, which sparked his interest in public service and activism. Daniel's early involvement in activism included working with Reality Check of NY to challenge tobacco companies' marketing tactics and advocating for the NYS Women’s Equality Agenda. Recognized for his efforts, Daniel received the 2014 WNY Youth Activist of the Year Award. His political engagement deepened with internships that led to his participation in the 2016 WNY and PA campaign for Hillary Clinton. Daniel's career gained momentum with multiple internships, eventually leading him to play a significant role in the 2016 WNY and PA effort to elect Hillary Clinton. His inherent knack for graphic design and web development segued into a successful career in digital marketing with the Hearst Organization. In this capacity, Daniel became a cornerstone for many small  businesses and big brands, providing indispensable marketing and business support, especially during the challenging times of the global COVID pandemic. His digital acumen was instrumental in numerous organizations and political campaigns, including the Urban League’s 2020 Get Out the Vote initiative. Under his leadership, the campaign successfully mobilized tens of thousands of underserved voters in a pivotal election and census year. After relocating to Dutchess County in the summer of 2021, Daniel quickly fell in love with the Hudson Valley. His previous role at The Nielsen Company, where he led strategy and relationships for a specialized division (TVTY), culminated in several industry accolades for his team. Following his tenure at Nielsen, Daniel transitioned to Google, where he continues to excel in his field. An ardent supporter of local charities, Daniel is particularly involved with Dutchess Outreach and the Dutchess County SPCA. In his leisure time, he indulges in playing the piano and enjoys being part of the Gotham Knights, a queer-rugby team. Recently, he completed training to serve as a volunteer paramedic, further extending his commitment to community service. Additionally, Daniel is making his mark at both the state and national levels. Serving as the Communications Director for the New York State Young Democrats and as the Director of Rapid Response for the Young Democrats of America, roles that highlight his unwavering dedication to political activism and public service.

Vincent Pedi

Treasurer & Secretary, Dutchess Young Dems

Treasurer, Dutchess County Democratic Committee

Vincent Pedi Bio Vincent was born and raised in the Mid-Hudson Valley, growing up in Newburgh, he earned his associates degree in Business Administration at Dutchess Community College. While there, he was Treasurer of the Student Government Association, and a Community College Representative for the SUNY Student Assembly. He also met the love of his life and fiancée Lee-Anne, and just celebrated 11 years together with a wedding date set in April 2023. After graduating DCC, he transferred to Lehman College where he received his bachelor's degree in Managerial Economics. Growing up in a working class family, Vincent is always working, and has held a number of jobs that helped get him through High School & College. Whether it be working in a factory during High School summer breaks, real estate photography in-between college classes, retail at the Poughkeepsie Galleria during holiday breaks, as a wedding cook throughout college on the weekends, or as a caretaker for his grandmother and special needs uncle, Vincent has seen it all. But most importantly, he understands the importance of hard work and knows what it takes to be successful. After College, he started his career in B2B SAAS Sales with Ricoh USA, eventually becoming a Recruiter for local City of Poughkeepsie family business, Ethan Allen Workforce Solutions. He quickly learned the intricacies of the local and regional economy, and truly enjoyed learning about organizations in the community. With COVID-19 changing our world of work, Vincent is now employed with his alma mater, Dutchess Community College, where he works as an Outreach Coach. Through this role, he engages with the community by working with prospective students, including adult-learners. Vincent also supports gender diversity recruitment, where he encourages those who identify as female to explore technical careers that historically have appealed more to males, such as engineering, construction, or aviation, and those who identify as male to do the same in fields such as nursing or human services. Vincent’s community service has included years of volunteering as lead instructor with the Chamber Foundation’s Youth Leadership Program. Each academic year, he instructs approximately 40 Dutchess County high school juniors in an 8-month career and college readiness program, covering areas such as résumé writing, interviewing, and career planning. In December 2021, Vincent was appointed to serve on the City of Poughkeepsie’s Industrial Development Agency (IDA), and in 2022, was recognized as one of the Hudson Valley’s “Top Forty Under 40 Movers and Shakers” for his efforts in serving the community. In September 2022, Vincent was appointed to serve on the Board of local non-profit, Community Matters 2, Inc. Vincent proudly serves local democratic committees, most notably as Treasurer (Served as President in 2022) of the Dutchess County Young Democrats as well as Treasurer of both the Dutchess County Democratic Committee & City of Poughkeepsie Democratic Committee. Living with his fiancée Lee-Anne and dog, Jackson, he is a fan of the Jets, Knicks, and Yankees. Vincent also enjoys traveling, hiking, basketball, golf, tennis, and boxing.

Michael Natrella 

Vice - President, Dutchess Young Dems

Michael Natrella, born and raised in Fishkill of the Mid-Hudson Valley, graduated from John Jay Senior High School and Binghamton University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in Political Science and certification in Politics and Law. While at Binghamton, Michael was Senior Copy Editor, Financial Vice President, and Community and Political Engagement Chair of Asian Outlook Magazine and Media Group. Michael met his girlfriend, Michelle Tan, the magazine's editor in chief and a linguistics and TRIP major, during his time at Asian Outlook, where they pushed for politically uplifting articles to further the voices of Asian Americans and other minority communities. During this time, Michael was also the Communications Director of College Democrats of New York, an executive board member of Democracy Matters, and a board member of Generation Vote. After university, he started his career in government as the Confidential Secretary to the Town of Fishkill Supervisor. He decided to continue his passion for political engagement by joining the Town of Fishkill Democratic Party. Michael's community service has included years of volunteering in various politics across New York state. Including volunteering for Rep. Anthony Brindisi for NY-22, Rep. Antonio Delgado for NY- 19, Rep. Pat Ryan for NY-18, Julie Shiroishi for NYS Senate, and Evelyn Farkas's Finance Intern for her NY-17 primary bid. In January 2023, Michael was elected as Vice President of the Dutchess County Young Democrats, furthering his initiative to encourage youth engagement and refresh the Democratic Party with a young and modern political perspective. Despite his young age, Michael proudly serves his community and is excited to take up this new position and explore his next adventure. Outside of public service, Michael is a loving uncle to his nephew Caspian and enjoys being with his family, friends, and girlfriend. Michael also spends his time playing video games, fixing computers, taking photos in nature, and hiking.
